“I have called you by your name; you are mine.” Isaiah 43:1

Year 3

Stations of the Cross

Year 3 went to the chapel to understand the Stations of the Cross.  During our worship, we held 14 Stations of the Cross and prayed altogether.

Roman Day

What a fun and exciting day! Year 3 tasted different Roman foods and made Roman pots out of clay.  They also combined and performed dance sequences to represent facts about the Roman Empire.

Mosaics

In Art, Year 3 learned about Gaudi’s mosaics.  Through his inspiration, children created their own mosaic designs using colourful tiles.

No Pens' Day Activities

It was a busy afternoon on No Pens' Day in Year 3!  First, we enjoyed reading with our buddies from Year 5. It was impressive how the older children looked after the younger ones and how they all respected one another.  After reading we practised singing songs for the Nativity play. It was very loud! Some children even decided to add some actions to their songs.  Later, we did some drama activities! We played different roles and the rest of the class had to guess who we were. That was a lot of fun!

No Pens’ Day

Year 3 took part in a ‘No Pens’ Day’ debate.  The children argued reasons for and against the statement - All zoos should be closed. The children did well as it was their first debate in KS2.

The Rosary

We spent our morning session learning about the beautiful Rosary. We spoke about number of beads on the rosary and what prayer needs to be said on each bead. Children loved looking at different rosaries that we had and were very excited to hold them as we were praying a decade as a class.

Big Dig

Year 3 had a chance to see what it is like to be an archaeologist.  They stayed focused and found various artefacts by digging. Some of the artefacts they found were hammerstones, flint stones, coins, pebble tools and jewellery. The children were so determined that they did not allow the bad weather to ruin their fun.  What an exciting, wet day it has been!

October, Month of the Holy Rosary

We went to the chapel and Mrs Guina explained to us why the Rosary is important and how to pray using the Rosary beads.

Woolly Mammoths

We read and followed instructions to make a woolly mammoth in English. We think they turned out great!

Reading Buddies

The children have been reading with their Year 5 reading buddies every Wednesday.  They enjoy sharing a book together and learning lots of new vocabulary.
