Bishop Peter's Visit
Bishop Peter’s Visit
On Wednesday 25th March, Bishop Peter Doyle came to celebrate the Federation of the Catholic Schools of Bletchley Parish. It was an exciting day for the children, staff and governors of both St. Thomas Aquinas School and Bishop Parker School.
In the morning, all the children from Years 2-6 walked up to All Saint’s Church while Bishop Peter spent some time at Bishop Parker School. Then we celebrated the feast of the Annunciation of Our Lord with a wonderful Mass with over 350 children from our schools, a fantastic choir, joyful singing and a parade of banners.
Bishop Peter blessed a special ornate candle for each school to take back and he encouraged the children to say ‘YES’ to God’s call, just as Mary had done.
After Mass, the Bishop came to our school and visited the Year 1 and Reception children. He told them that his favourite song was not a hymn but ‘Thank you for the Music’ by ABBA!
Bishop Peter also went to visit the new library where he offered a blessing and prayer for the pupils and staff of our school and then placed his fingerprint onto a piece of artwork that every child had helped to produce. Bishop Peter had lunch with the teachers and cut a delicious cake to mark the start of the Bletchley Catholic Schools’ Federation.
