Making A Difference

The generous donations to Sepo from our Advent fundraising are already making a difference to the community in Mongu.

  • Fr Francis and women from the parish were able to provide a special Christmas meal for anyone who needed one.
  • A young man was provided with the items needed to start a hairdressing and barber business so that he can become independent and support his family.
  • Fr Andrew and the Mongu SVP are embarking on a project to build chicken coops for local people.

Thank you for your continued support.

Return from Zambia

Some of the staff of St Thomas Aquinas spent the summer holidays supporting the work of Sepo in Mongu, Zambia. Thanks to the amazing Christmas and Lenten fundraising efforts of children and families at school and the parishioners from church, we were able to see and join in with some amazing projects that have been set up to support the community.

During assembly, we shared some photos and stories of our time in Africa working at the St Agatha’s School to set up a library and teaching a range of exciting science lessons. We worked at the Women’s Skills Centre introducing IT skills, visited the prison to be at the blessing of a new chapel and played with the local children during the evenings. We were able to lead some prayers and training sessions for catechists, see the work of the outreach maternity team and the learn about the work that Mother Earth are leading to help locals to grow crops and set up businesses.

The people of Mongu were so welcoming, friendly and very grateful for support from our school and parish in Bletchley. We returned with a few gifts, thank you messages and songs and new friendships and memories.

Thank you for your continued generosity as we support our brothers and sisters in Zambia.
