ICT Day

On September 16th 2010, we held our first ever ICT Day. It was a great success and children throughout the school had great fun learning about various areas and applications of ICT. Our guest speakers spoke about a wide range of ICT.

We started the day with an assembly during which we met our visitors and got to use our voting pads in a quiz about ICT. Each child then had the chance to spend the whole day engaged in activities related to ICT as well as meeting ICT experts. The children benefitted greatly from the chance to try new things and meet new people.

Years 5 and 6 had the opportunity to design their own iPhone applications while year 4 recorded their own multi-track CD to be performed at a charity dinner in London! Years 2 and 6 received excellent talks about e-safety from the staff at the Safety Centre and years 1 and 2 learnt about project management while designing their own playground. Years 5 and 6 learnt about multimedia applications used by university students and also had great fun learning about the history of gaming and playing on consoles almost 30 years old! Reception and year 3 were able to use a lot of the new sensing equipment we have in school to find out who could shout the loudest. Reception also received their new video cameras and voice recorders and were able to film each other during the day! Years 3,4 and 5 got to play with the Lego robots and had races around their own obstacle courses. Year 3W had a great job documenting the day, as they worked as STA Radio DJs when they made their first ever podcast. You can listen to that here.

To hear the CD track that year 4 made, click here. They were listened to by many of the cast members of Last of The Summer Wine, including Peter Sallis (the voice of Wallace in Wallace and Gromit)!

We thank all those who kindly contributed to make the day a success and we look forward to seeing you at our next ICT Day.
