Choosing Playground Equipment
This year, we were very grateful to be given the role of helping Mr Mundy and Mrs Taylor-Law choose new playground equipment to purchase for our school. We did a Key Stage 2 questionnaire to find out what equipment our peers enjoy playing with, want more of and find useful when making up games on the playground. Our younger School Council members went and spoke to the younger children in the school about this in a different and more structured way to get their opinion. We came together and all discussed the responses. Then, we sorted some potential equipment into piles to take to senior staff members as a suggestion of what to order.
Splat the Teacher for SEPO Day
During our annual SEPO Day event, we host the Splat the Teacher stand. This year, to show our thanks to all the wonderful staff members who took part and got soaking wet, we made them each a thank you certificate and left a chocolate bar on their desk at the end of the day. We really appreciate all of the work that goes into days like SEPO day and appreciate our staff for taking part in the fun!
School Council Meetings at St Paul’s
Together, we have visited St Paul’s Secondary School for a meeting with other School Council members from Catholic Primaries in Milton Keynes. This is always a wonderful opportunity to meet and work with other students to come up with new ideas and opportunities to make our schools and communities a better place.
Hosting Odd Socks Day for Anti-Bullying Week
In November, School Council hosted Odd Socks Day for Anti-Bullying Week. We put posters up around the school to promote children wearing odd socks to celebrate diversity. On the day, we hosted an assembly all about why it is important and good to be different! We emphasised that each student should have a 'safe adult' in mind that they can go to if they feel like they, or someone else are being bullied. We promoted kindness and supportiveness.
