No Pens' Day

Debates

The annual KS2 debate took place on No Pens Day this year and the standard of discussion was excellent from all. Classes had spent the week choosing, researching, drafting, writing and practising their topics which all had a link to the Catholic Social Teachings. The arguments both for and against the proposals were strong and referenced the life of Jesus, the bible scripture and the Church teachings.

Year 3: All zoos should be closed down.

Year 4: We should let more refugees into the UK.

Year 5: We should protect all animal species that are in trouble

Year 6: Year 6 pupils should complete 2 hours of voluntary service in their community per week

The debate was watched by all and judged by some past STA pupils and Mr Kocan from St Pauls. Excellent background knowledge, speaking and listening skills, teamwork, clarity and expression were commented on. Well done everyone!
