“I have called you by your name; you are mine.” Isaiah 43:1

Year 2TL

Food Chains

In Science we have been learning about food chains and how energy is passed from one animal to another. We made our own food chains showing what eats what and how energy travels up the chain.

Baby Dragons!

Year 2TL were given quite a shock, when the dragon egg we found, suddenly cracked open! Luckily the dragon expert came to save the day and told us all about the lovely dragon baby. We were very lucky as we were all able to hold it.

Dragon Medicine

Class 2TL received a strange, but wonderful, letter from the land of the dragons! In this letter it told us that we needed to write a set of instructions on how to make a magic medicine to wake all the sleeping dragons. We all worked very hard at writing our instructions using some very strange ingredients!  All these strange ingredients were delivered to our class and we had to follow the instructions carefully to make the medicine. If it fizzed and bubbled then we had made it correctly. Can you see if we made it correctly or not?

National SEA LIFE Centre – Birmingham

On Tuesday 10th January Year Two had a fantastic day out at the National SEA LIFE Centre in Birmingham. We enjoyed seeing lots of different types of sea life and even had a behind the scenes tour where we learnt about how some of the animals are looked after and what they eat.

Dance Workshop

We were lucky to have an opportunity to work with Pete to learn some stomp dances. The children had to use their bodies to create sound as they danced.

Fire, Fire!

We made our own Tudor houses to recreate Pudding Lane in London in 1666. Once it was all set up, we set fire to the bakery and watched London go up in flames!

Bakers for the day!

The Great fire of London was started in a bakery in 1666.  We became bakers from 1666 and made the type of bread they would have made back then.

Our Trip to the Synagogue

As part of our Judaism week, we visited the Synagogue in Giffard Park. The children learnt all about the Synagogue, focusing on the similarities and differences between that and our own Church. They were also able to have a look at lots of the special items that are kept in a synagogue; have a go at writing some Hebrew letters and reading the Torah. We had a great day and learnt a lot.

Science

We wanted to find out what the best material to build a house would be. We investigated different materials and decided that bricks were the best material because it’s strong, waterproof, opaque and rigid.

Plants from Different Habitats

We looked at the different types of habitats found all over the world. We discussed why these habitats were so different. We then looked at the various types of plants found in each habitat.

Hanson Centre Trip

2TL visited the Hanson Centre as part of our topic on plants and habitats. While we were there we found out about different habitats. We looked at the types of animals and plants you can find in different habitats. We had a great day and really enjoyed all of the activities, especially the pond dipping!

Ordering

We have been working very hard on understanding place value. Using dice we made our own 2/3/4 digit numbers and then ordered them correctly onto our own washing lines.
