Day of Languages

European Day of Languages 2013

European Day of Languages got off to a great start this year with an assembly where we all got to learn some Dutch and join in with the ‘Penguin Dance’! We also discovered some interesting Dutch traditions. Once again, we had a fantastic range of languages being taught to different classes throughout the day, including Spanish, Russian, French, Arabic, German, Greek, Dutch, Italian and Portuguese. We are very grateful to the parents and relatives who came in to teach their own language. Fun was also had at lunchtime with a number of children joining in with Spanish parachute games. It was a fantastic day and we can’t wait until next year!

European day of Languages 2012
European Day of Languages was another fantastically successful day this year. We broke our record for the number of languages taught and learnt on the day. It now stands at 12! This year, English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Swiss, Hungarian, Polish, Dutch, Bulgarian, Russian and Arabic were heard in lessons. It was a really fun day and everybody had a lot of fun. St. Patrick's were victorious in the House Languages Quiz at the start of the day and they were also victorious in the House Language Hunt at lunch time. Congratulations to them! We would like to say a great big thank you to all of the parents who came in to help teach their own language on the day and a special thanks must go to Lisa, Berenice and Marisia from Year 6; Maja from Year 5 and Tosia and Patryk from Year 2 who all taught other children their own languages too. Well done everyone!
