February 2017

Hi from your School Council,

We would like tell you about our exciting trip to the Houses of Parliament a couple of months ago. We went with the School Council from Bishop Parker School. We left very early in the morning on our school minibus for the journey into London. On arrival we went through security, almost like being at an airport. Our tour started in a room with circular chairs and a big screen running all around us. We learned about Parliament from the early stages up until present day. It was very cool to watch the exciting presentation running around the room. Next we went to the gallery in the House of Commons, whilst the MPs were having a debate. It was really interesting and television screens gave us a close up view. When our tour was finished, we visited the gift shop and had lunch in the café with delicious hot chocolate.

Following our tour, we walked to St Paul’s Cathedral to look around and have some quiet prayer time. We met Father Michael there, who was also visiting the Cathedral, which was a pleasant surprise.  It was a fantastic day which we would recommend to everyone.

March 2016

Hi from your School Council

This year so far, we have carried out an e-safety survey for classes 2-6. It was an anonymous survey so people could be more truthful. Then we collected the data for the survey. We had mostly good results and thanks to all the children who took part in it!  We all enjoyed it.

Last year’s School Council had a meeting with all the other Catholic Primary School Councils in Milton Keynes. While they were there, they decided what charity they were going to support - The Henry Allen Trust won. Its aim is to help children with cancer experience something special. It was founded when Henry Allen tragically died from cancer at the age of 4.

We decided to do a toy/book sale to help raise money for this charity and we did it just after Christmas, so we could tell the other School Councils how much money we raised when we next met. During school hours, we raised £300!  We sold the remaining things after school and took the grand total to £320!

We are also hoping to do our annual SEPO chocolate raffle this Lent so make sure you buy some raffle tickets when they come out!

Thank you for all your contributions and make sure you keep putting your ideas in the suggestion boxes.

March 2015

Hi from your School Council!

This year we have started our ‘pupil voice’ surveys. Last term the survey was about bullying and this term the survey is about reading. The results help us to sort out any issues or worries we have in our school.

We are still collecting dried up pens and old mobile phones for our recycling project, to raise funds for people less fortunate than us. So please keep sending them in and we will make them count!

We are working with the playground buddies to make our school even better and there will be a new friendship bench at our Friendship Stop very soon.

We have brought in some Easter goodies and we have a raffle to raise money for SEPO. The first prize is an Easter hamper and the second prize is an Easter basket. Please buy some raffle tickets and good luck!

Remember to keeping placing your suggestions in our boxes, all great ideas will be considered.

March 2013

Hello! We are School Council members James and Denny, here to speak to you about what we are up to.

Just recently, School Council completed the Olympic time capsule that we have been working on. It is full of memories of our exciting Olympic week activities and celebrations.

Please remember that we are still collecting pens for our recycling project. We are now collecting mobile phones too, so if you have any broken or unwanted phones please donate them to us as soon as possible. The funds raised by this project will be used for a good cause; we will tell you more about it later in the year.

As you know our Lenten appeal for MoPSA is underway and School Council is participating. We will be organising a raffle with a fantastic prize! Look out for our posters around the school.

Please keep using your suggestion boxes because we care what you think!

Thank you for reading our blog and we promise to keep in touch more often.
